A number of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded xenografts are available through the EMSS Tumor Bank.  Xenografts are generated from a variety of human cancer cell lines injected into SCID mice, harvested at various timepoints after injection, prior to reaching a tumor volume of 800 mm^3.  Hematoxylin and eosin staining is used to identify morphological structures in the xenografts.  Three micron sections of unstained tissue may be purchased for immunohistochemical analysis.   The Tissue Acquisition and Cellular/Molecular Analysis Shared Service  completes the pathology and immunohistochemistry services for the EMSS.

An array of 33 formalin fixed, paraffin embedded xenografts are available to investigate target markers for investigator in cancer research. For example, the xenograft  array was stained for c-myc expression for Dr. Laurence Hurley to determine which cell line to test his c-myc inhibitors in in vivo studies i.e. possibly CHP-100 since it has higher c-myc expression.
